Syracuse attackers Joey Spallina and Owen Hiltz along with defender Billy Dwan were named Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference Team selections, the conference announced Tuesday.
The conference also released its 2025 Preseason Coaches’ Poll, where Syracuse was predicted to finish second. The Orange picked up 20 points while defending national-champion Notre Dame ranked first with 25 points. Virginia (12 points), Duke (10) and North Carolina (eight) round out the list.
Spallina, the No. 1 recruit in Inside Lacrosse’s 2022 recruiting class, returns for his junior season coming off a 37 goal and 51 assist season and an Inside Lacrosse All-American Third-Team choice in 2024.
Hiltz, who was named an All-ACC Team and an All-American honorable mention last season, enters his redshirt senior season after leading SU with 38 goals last season and adding 27 assists.
Dwan was also part of the All-ACC Team last season along with the Inside Lacrosse All-American Third Team. The junior finished second on the team with 18 caused turnovers while also picking up 34 ground balls. Dwan has proven to be a threat in transition, notching eight career goals and the fifth-most points by a defender in program history.
Syracuse opens its season Saturday against Jacksonville in the JMA Wireless Dome. The Dolphins are helmed by former SU two-time national championship-winning goaltender John Galloway.
