Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety has identified a person who reportedly shouted a racial slur on Walnut Avenue Sunday.
On Sunday, DPS received reports of people yelling a racial slur outside of two houses. The report said the people yelling were seen in a silver truck and followed by a green sedan. DPS issued four tickets, an appearance ticket and a three-year trespass notice to the person, who is not affiliated with SU, according to a Tuesday email.
DPS reviewed security camera footage to make the identification and the case is now closed.
DPS can be reached through its Silent Witness tool or the Orange Safe mobile app. To report a bias incident, contact DPS at (315) 443-3514 or stopbias@syr.edu or visit the Stop Bias website.
