Class of 2017 defensive end Jonathan Kingsley verbally committed to Syracuse on Friday, per multiple reports. CuseConfidential.com first reported the news.
Kingsley is not ranked by Scout.com but received three stars from Rivals.com. He’s the second defensive end to join the class behind three-star Zach Morton.
Kingsley was originally a Class of 2019 prospect but reclassified, according to Scout.com.
The Nigeria native played the 2015 season at Eastern Alamance (North Carolina). He was ruled ineligible after the season and caused the team to forfeit all its wins, according to the Times-News.
Alamance County police say Aris Hines and Brandi Thomason, who were charged with felony obstruction of justice and obtaining property by false pretense in May, used false documents to enroll Kingsley at the school. The couple is being investigated for a larger human-trafficking scheme that extends beyond Kingsley.
Kingsley is playing his senior season at St. Frances (Maryland) Academy this year.
